Privacy
These facts are compiled into the app and checked when it starts, so this page cannot drift from what the deployment does.
- Who runs this app
- Duke University, in Azure, East US 2.
- Who reads your pasted text
- OpenAI, processing in United States, for the item judgements only. Each call asks the provider not to store the text (storage flag: off).
- How long the provider may hold a copy
- Up to 30 days, for abuse monitoring, then deleted. A person last read the provider's terms and confirmed this on 2026-10-10.
- What this app keeps
- The report for each paste: item statuses, the lines from your draft that each finding quotes, and the arithmetic checks. Also a hash of the text, its word count, the time, your design choices, your one-sentence question, and the taps you make. Nothing else from the draft.
- What this app never keeps
- The pasted text itself. Your name, email address, or any identifier from the course site: the launch gives this app a one-way hash of your course identity.
- Logs
- Request paths and timings. No draft text appears in any log.
- Deleting
- You can delete one paper, or everything this app holds about you, at any time. Deletion is immediate and not reversible.
- This term
- The tool reads study proposals (protocol mode) for a course. Nothing goes back to the course site: no marks, no results, no record of use.
